1986 Bella Oaks Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Limit: 3 Bottles
A sleek, polished vintage in Napa Valley. Full ruby in color with translucent edges and brick-orange rim, the 1986 features a tertiary bouquet of sweet black plum, dried figs, soy, and balsamic tones. Full-bodied and chewy, it’s complex with sour cherry, forest floor, anise, game, and tobacco. Enjoyably firm acidity has served this well, with fully resolved tannins and a long, grippy finish. A mature beauty with exotic complexity, this is delicious to drink through 2026—or longer, according to your personal taste.
1987 Bella Oaks Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

From a dry summer and warm, early harvest, the 1987 wines have concentration and balance, thanks to early picking. A gorgeous array of aromas swirls in the glass, comprising amarena black cherry, mint, leather, and fallen leaves. Bold and generous, the 1987 is rich with sweet, if fading, fruit, and silky tannins. The wine wears its age elegantly, with mouth-filling fruit and a long, august finish.
1988 Bella Oaks Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

It will be fascinating to compare this cooler, wetter 1988 season with the preceding 1987 vintage. Full ruby in color with bricking at the rim, the 1988 Bella Oaks sports a vibrant bouquet of black cherry, eucalyptus, cedar, castelvetrano olives, and dusty mineral. Medium-bodied and generous, earthily complex, it finishes dry with black cherries, cassis, plum, and tobacco. Still showing youthful vibrancy despite its age, with a long, dry, satisfying finish. Beautifully aged Cabernet Sauvignon to drink now.
